The Artist
About Mike Wilson
Biography
Raised on Maui and now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mike Wilson works across painting, sculpture, and music. His paintings often begin with something ordinary, a surface, an object, a moment that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through process and repetition, that starting point shifts. What remains sits somewhere between recognition and abstraction. Texture, color, and scale play a central role in the work. Forms emerge, dissolve, and reappear in new ways, leaving space for the viewer to decide what they are seeing.
Artist Statement
My work begins with something familiar, but it rarely stays that way. Through texture, color, and process, the image shifts into something less certain. Iām not trying to define it, only to push it far enough that it can be seen in more than one way.
